PRESENTATION OF THE ANNUAL ALBERT KAPOVIĂ† AWARD

Explanation of This Year's Alber Kapović Award

In the past year, Hrvoje Hribar played a key role in defining the long-term goals and direct tasks of the development of the audiovisual sector in our country. The clear strategy of development and improvement of the sector, firmly set goals and constructive steps towards achieving of these goals have been the main aspects of Hribar's activities at the helm of Croatian Audiovisual center. His motives are valuable, his cooperation and communication with all the persons involved in audiovisual are inspiring, his achievements are important and his results are very optimistic.

From adoption of the national Program for Promotion of Audiovisual Work in October 2010 to the first public presentation of the Program in January 2011 in Croatian Chamber of Commerce to the present day, Hrvoje Hribar (one of the authors of the Program) and his team in HAVC have managed to initiate the procedure for amendment of the Audiovisual Activities Act in order to define the legal framework for introduction of incentives for investment in audiovisual art and for ensuring as efficient as possible collection of legal inflow of funds payable to Croatian Audiovisual Center (outside those from the state budget). Hrvoje Hribar initiated the law amendment procedure in his first year in the office as the director of Croatian Audiovisual Center, the umbrella organization in the audiovisual sector in the Republic of Croatia. The introduction of incentives for investment in audiovisual projects will return Croatia to the map of the film-friendly countries when it comes to attracting foreign investments. However, we should not forget that the same measures also open an additional channel of financing of the domestic audiovisual production.

Hrvoje Hribar deserves lots of credit for these extraordinary results.

Due to all the above, Croatian Producers' Association Committee (HRUP) for Albert Kapović Award, composed of Dana Budisavljević, Boris T. Matić, Zoran Budak, Damir Terešak and Ivan Maloča, unanimously decided on its session of 27 September 2011 that this year's Albert Kapović Award should go to Hrvoje Hribar, Director of Croatian Audiovisual Center.
